Every weekend until the official re-launching of otaku.ph, it would be my honor to update you on what has changed the past week, and sometimes what we can expect for the next few weeks.
For the first week, obviously, a lot has changed.
The most noticeable change to the common reader is the site banner. The new banner is designed by our newest contributor, Alain (dude, are you really going to use your first name and not some pen name? >,<).
Looks refreshing and nice, doesn’t it? Guess what, that’s not the final version just yet. Work is ongoing on not only the banner but the overall site theme as well (surprise, the color scheme changed as well).
Since we’re such avid workers and since we don’t want to interrupt any of your routines, we’ve decided to employ the “Business as usual” practice. While the site continues to evolve into what would be version 2.0, readers can continue to read past posts, and even expect new ones!
I’m holding out, though. I’ve written at least 5 posts already but I’m reserving most of it post-launch, so stay tuned!
Back to our topic, the twitter feed has been deactivated for several reasons, second of which is that not a lot of people are following otakudotph. :)
What? What’s the first reason? Oh yeah, I forgot the password to that account. Toink!
We’ve also revamped our rating system. As you can see, we now have a set of standards to be followed across all reviews. The past posts will be edited in the next few weeks to reflect this new system, and all posts moving forward will have this 5-star letter-graded system.
Lastly, one new channel has been launched – the Gadget Review. Gadget Review differs from most gadget reviewing sites (engadget, GSMArena) in that it focuses more on the day-to-day experiences of using the gadget instead of its technical specifications.
For instance, while others would say the Nintendo 3DS has a short battery life, narrow viewing angle, and limited collection of 3D games, we’ll say despite these, it’s still fun to play by yourself, and that even though the 3D games are limited at the moment, the fact that you can play old DS games on it makes up for it just a little bit. Still, you might run out of games to play before Nintendo can release new ones. More on that in a separate post, of course.
Oh, and even though this is otaku.ph, we won’t be limiting ourselves to Japanese gadgets. Don’t worry, though, we’ll keep things interesting for everyone.
That’s it for this week! Jaa na!
I have other blogs too! And I have to use my name for it. :P
